At the global unveiling of Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge, Samsung Mobile co-CEO JK Shin talked about how the company was moving away from the industry-standard DDR3 RAM and introducing the DDR4 RAM on a smartphone for the first time.
The company claimed that the 3GB of preloaded DDR4 RAM will boost running memory by up to 80%, making multitasking smoother.
However, some XDA Developer users have claimed that their Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge units do not manage memory well, which is the primary cause for apps crashing unexpectedly and even the handset restarting without warning. Some also report that the phone only shows 200-400MB of available RAM at a time, meaning that up to 2.5GB of RAM is consumed by the system.
On such user posted a link about this problem on Facebook, saying “Hopefully an update can fix this…”
Samsung UK in its reply called the matter “issues relating to device performance and stability.” It said that micro-updates are being rolled out to correct the “issues.”
