Samsung Announced Tizen Powered Smart TV At CES 2015

All tech enthusiasts are eyeing at Samsung’s announcements at CES2015. The company is expected to announce and showcase multiple revolutionary products at the event happening in Las Vegas. Yesterday, the company made an announcement about the new range of Smart Televisions.

TizenSamsung announced that the new range of television will be powered by Tizen operating system. The web-connected TV would run on Tizen platform. Samsung’s executive VP, Lee Won-Jin said, “Building the smart platform around Tizen was one of the most remarkable success that we have achieved. The Smart Platform powered by Tizen is much more intelligent and integrated. This new platform unlocks the great potential for the future of home entertainment.”

Launching Tizen on TVs has its own merits. Samsung already holds leading position in TV category. There is no television out there that comes with unified platform for internet connected TCs. LG has also planned to launch WebOS powered TV. Meanwhile, Google has been trying to power Television with its Chromecast and Android TV project for years now.

There is a great opportunity window for Samsung to come up with own smart TV powered by Tizen. Company is also working on Tizen-based smartphone. The platform will have more advantage to do better in the market as it doesn’t have to be as reliant as smartphones on the availability of applications. Tizen is also known for low power consumption and less memory. It would be easier for users to switch from watching traditional TV channels to web-based streaming platforms like YouTube. Samsung is working on a complete smart home entertainment platform powered by Tizen.
