Samsung is all geared up to launch its much-awaited Galaxy S8 (and possibly S8 Plus) flagship smartphone(s). Over the past few months, there have been numerous leaks and rumours concerning the device(s). A fresh leak has surfaced online, revealing more information about the devices’ batteries and the rumoured ‘Bixby’ virtual assistant. As per a report by The Investor website, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus will sport 3,000mAh and 3,500mAh batteries respectively. If the information is indeed true, the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus will have the same battery capacities as the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge respectively.
Along with this, a separate leak has revealed that Samsung patented the word ‘Samsung Hello’. This could be the phrase used to trigger the Bixby voice assistant in handsfree mode. The description attached with the patented trademark reads, “Application software that provides information about weather, manages appointments, controls music player, organizes your phonebook and gets personalized news articles and information.” Some earlier reports have hinted that the Galaxy S8 would come in two variants based on screen size and resolution. While one will feature a 5.1-inch Quad HD resolution display, the other will have a 5.5-inch Super Amoled display of 4K resolution. Both are expected to be powered by either a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 or a Samsung Exynos 8895 SoC, based on the markets they are made available in. The 5.5-inch 4K resolution display variant is additionally expected to feature a dual-rear camera setup.
