Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ to launch in India tomorrow
Aweek after unveiling its latest flagship smartphones, Samsung is set to launch them in India. The Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ will officially be launched at an event in New Delhi on March 6 at 11.30AM. The devices were launched on February 25 at an event on the sidelines of Mobile World Congress 2018 in Barcelona, Spain. The pre-bookings of the two smartphones have already started and interested customers can do so by paying a token amount of Rs 2000. Airtel is also running a similar pre-booking offer for its postpaid customers. The Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ will go on sale globally on March 16. For the Indian market, the date could be confirmed tomorrow at the launch event. The official price of the smartphones hasn’t been announced but online reports suggest that the Galaxy S9 could be priced around Rs 57,000 whereas the S9+ could cost around Rs 64,000.
As far as specifications go, the Galaxy S9 comes with a a 5.8-inch Super AMOLED display. It boasts of 4GB RAM and is powered by Exynos 9810 octa core processor. The Galaxy S9 features a single rear 12MP rear camera with dual variable aperture of f/1.5 and f/2.4. At the front there is an 8MP camera. The highlight of the smartphone is the camera which is capable of shooting super slow motion videos at 960fps at 720p resolution. The smartphone runs Android 8.0 Oreo with TouchWiz UI on top. The Galaxy S9+ features a bigger display and comes with a 6.2-inch Super AMOLED display. There’s 6GB RAM on-board and it is also powered by Exynos 9810 octa core processor. The camera is also different from its sibling as the Galaxy S9+ features a dual rear camera (12MP+12MP with OIS). The wide angle senor has dual variable aperture of f/1.5 and f/2.4. The other telephoto lens is also 12MP with f/2.4 aperture. The front camera is 8MP with f/1.7 aperture. The Galaxy S9 has a 3000mAH battery whereas the Galaxy S9+ boasts of 3500mAH battery.
