After LG launched its limited edition of 24-karat gold smartwatch and Sony unveiled Wena Wrist, South Korean tech firm introduced its Gear S2 smartwatch ahead of the IFA electronics trade show. While pricing and availability details are kept under the wraps, Samsung’s newest Gear S2 features a circular face with an improved battery life than that of Apple Watch.
Samsung Gear S2 is expected to be launched in two variants, Samsung Gear S2 modern and Samsung Gear S2 classic. Both the watches sport rotating bezels as an exclusive technique to browse information. While Samsung Gear S2 modern will be available in a Dark Grey smooth metal case with a black band and Silver case with a gray band, the Samsung Gear S2 classic would feature a Black case with a matching leather band.
The watch, however, does not resemble a smartwatch at all and looks like any other traditional timepiece.
If we talk about the specifications, the watch comes with a 3.04cm (1.2-inch) Circular Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 360×360 pixels. Running on Tizen based wearable platform, the smartwatch is IP68 Certified Dust and Water Resistant. Powered by a Dual core 1.0 GHz processor coupled with 512MB of RAM, the watch has 4GB of internal memory.With the connectivity of Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, NFC, the wearable comes with sensors such as accelerometer, gyroscope, heart rate, ambient light and barometer. Backed by a 250mAh Li-ion, the watch claims work for two to three days after it is fully charged.
Samsung is expected to showcase the much-anticipated product at IFA 2015 which is to be held in Berlin from September 4-9, 2015
