Samsung seems to be betting big on its upcoming Galaxy S8 smartphone. According to a report on Naver website, Samsung will be producing as many as 10 million units for the smartphone initially.
The report adds that out of these 10 million Galaxy S8 units, around 4.7 million units will go into production in March and 7.8 million units in April this year. There is no information if the Galaxy S8+ will also follow the same production schedule.
According to one of the camera component suppliers for the handset, Samsung has drastically increased the production, resulting in the component makers to increase their yield. According to previous report from ET News, Samsung plans to launch the Galaxy S8 smartphones in several markets simultaneously. This also means that it won’t prefer South Korea this time for the initial launch.
Samsung recently revealed the launch date of upcoming flagship smartphone Galaxy S8 at its pre-MWC 2017 conference. The company’s Galaxy Unpacked event will take place on March 29 11:00 AM EDT (08.30 PM IST) in New York. The Galaxy S8 launch event will also be live streamed on the company’s website.
“On March 29, Samsung Electronics will unveil the newest Galaxy as part of its endeavour to unbox your phone. The forthcoming addition to the Galaxy lineup represents the start of a new era, by reshaping the device that has over the years become an indispensable tool in our everyday lives,” reads Samsung’s invite for the event.
So far, the Galaxy S8 hasn’t proved to be a best-kept secret. The handset has already appeared in several leaked images and through third-party retailers listings.
