Samsung has recently made an announcement about its new range of tablets that are targeted exclusively at children. These products opine tech analysts is a winner given the fact that more and more children are getting addicted to the use of technology.
“We saw an opportunity to create a device just for kids that provides them with an intuitive, fun and kid-friendly user experience filled with rich, interactive and educational content that parents will love,” said JK Shin, CEO and Head of IT & Mobile Communication at Samsung Electronics.
The specs are as follows: The tablet will come 7-inh 1024x600p resolution display, 1.2GHz dual-core processor, Android 4.1, 3MP rear camera, 1.3MP front camera and 4,000 mAh battery. It also packs 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage and microSD card slot.
The tablets will come with pre-loaded with apps that have been custom built for children. Beside this, Samsung has also announced a brand new Kid’s Store. Inclusive of this pre-loaded content are educational, games, entertainment and e-book apps. Also interesting is the fact that the tablet will offer user parents of user’s children to select the apps they want their kids to have access to using the Application Manager.
Nevertheless, the tab will also include includes a Time Management feature which will allow parents to set specific time periods for use. When the designated use time is up, a password protected lock screen appears, requiring a parent or adult to enter the password to unlock the device.
According to a press release by the company, Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Kids will be available in Korea in early September and subsequently available across China, Europe, U.S., Africa, South America and South East Asia. There isn’t any final word from Samsung on the pricing of the tab.
