As expected, Samsung has launched Galaxy S6 Active smartphone. The smartphone has been launched exclusively with US telecom operator AT&T. However, the company is yet to share its plans about the global launch.
Most of the specifications of Galaxy S6 Active are similar to its predecessor Galaxy S6, but the former stands out of the two, with its rugged and shock-proof design, water/dust resistance and bigger battery. With these specifications, the smartphone is good for outdoor activities and one doesn’t have to worry about it getting wet or falling down.
According to a company press statement, Jeff Bradley, senior vice president, device marketing and developer services, AT&T Mobility, said, “As we’ve shown over the past three years as the exclusive provider of Samsung’s Galaxy S active family, we feel that our customers shouldn’t have to trade durability for best-in-class specs. The Galaxy S6 active is the best Galaxy S6 in the market. It combines all the premium features of the Galaxy S6, but also is durable enough to can handle wear and tear.”
The Samsung Galaxy S6 Active smartphone packs a 12.95 (5.1-inch) Quad-HD Super AMOLED display, Samsung Exynos 7420 octa-core 64-bit processor, 3500 mAh battery and runs on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop with Touchwiz. It features 16MP primary camera, 5MP secondary shooter, 4G LTE support, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of on-board storage.
The makers have also added a dedicated activity Zone button on the smartphone, allowing the users to have quick access to compass, flashlight, stop watch and more.
Samsung Galaxy S6 Active will be available on AT&T starting June 12 in Camo white, Camo blue and gray colours for US$ 199 with the usual two year contract. Customers can also purchase the phone with AT&T Next plan for US$ 23.17 with 30 device payments on Next SM 243, US$ 28.96 per month at 24 payments on Next 18, or US$ 34.75 per month at 20 payments on Next 12.
