Samsung Mobile has made the rugged smartphone Galaxy Xcover 3 official, bringing a mid-range smartphone that can weather the elements.
Samsung Galaxy Xcover 3 comes with an 11.43-cm (4.5-inch) screen with 480x800p resolution. The smartphone runs on Android 4.4 aka Android KitKat and the company claims that the smartphone will soon get its dose of Android Lollipop.
The Galaxy Xcover 3 comes packs a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, supported by 1.5GB RAM, 8GB internal storage and microSD card support. On the camera front, the rugged smartphone comes with a 5MP rear camera, that can click pictures under water as well, along with a 2MP front shooter. Samsung has fitted a 2,200mAh battery in the smartphone.
Samsung has also fixed the smartphone with an ‘Xcover’ key, which can open the camera and activate LED flash as well. With respect to the ruggedness, Samsung Galaxy Xcover 3 has earned the IP67 rating and MIL-STD 810G certification. It means that the smartphone remains unaffected by dust and is operable even if submerged in one-metre of water for up to 30 minutes.
The second certification implies that the smartphone is resistant to dust, humidity, rain, solar radiation, salt, thermal shock, and vibration. Samsung plans to put the Xcover 3 smartphone at the CeBIT industry expo.
