Samsung Unveils New SmartThings Internet Of Things Kit That Works Even Without Internet

While the much hyped IFA 2015 has been rocked with the Internet Of Thinglaunch of new smartphones, smartwatches and other consumer electronics, South Korean tech giant Samsung has hinted the so-called Internet of Things (IoT) during the event.

According to WP Hong, chief executive, Samsung, “By 2020, all devices made by Samsung will be IoT-enabled.”

“It is not a trend. It is at the heart of today’s industrial revolution,” he further said.

If all goes as anticipated, it would be a world of our dreams. Just like American animated sitcom Jetsons, all the lights will automatically be switched on in the morning and we will soon wake up with the aroma of freshly brewed coffee. Just as we get ready (with the help of automatic toothbrush, shower), our breakfast would be calling us at the dining table.

Samsung which is a leading consumer manufacturer of washing machines, air-conditioners, refrigerators and microwave, has introduced a new device called Smart Things. Comprising a small white box called a hub, the device would be able to coordinate all the home appliances.

The firm also announced another device called the Sleepsense which would be able to monitors breathing and heart rate at bedtime when placed under the mattress.
