Smartron India and Foxconn join hands to make smartphones

Smartron India and Foxconn tie up to manufacture smartphone and other devices.Smartron India and Foxconn collaborate to make smartphones, tablets, ultra books and Internet of Things devices from next month.According to Mahesh Linga reddy Smartron promoter, “There’s a separate assembly line for our products at the Foxconn plant in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh.” He further stated that Smartron will start its commercial operations by the middle of January. It will start with the launch of high-end 5 inch and 5.5 inch smartphones as well as hybrid Windows tablets. Also, in the latter part of the coming year, it will launch high-end ultra books and a host of other IoT devices which will include smart cameras, storage systems, bulbs, security devices with wireless router capabilities, smart bands and wireless chargers.
The company is also considering a collaboratoin with Wistron from Taiwan for setting up a smartphone assembly unit in Noida. The $200-million (₹ 1,320-crore) facility is being constructed now and is going to become operational by March 2016. Linga reddy is also the CEO and cofounder of silicon semiconductor startup Soft Machines. He stated that there is going to be a tie up between his company and Smartron for many products. His company is valued over $1 billion with teams in India as well as US.
