Sony is going to unveil its Android based television range in India. According to the reports, the company will launch the TV range in the second week of June.
Developed by Google, Android TV is popularly known as the smart TV. This device creates an interactive television experience through a 3.04m (10-foot) user interface. Android TV can be built into both TVs and stand-alone digital media players. Users have access to the Google Play Store to download Android apps, including media streaming services Netflix and Hulu, as well as games.
Kenichiro Hibi, managing director at Sony India told ET that the new range will be in the mid-to-high price range and will arrive along with a tremendous campaign. The new range will include a remote containing a touch pad to ease the television browsing experience.
The new Android-powered television range will also include inbuilt cameras and video conferencing solutions ( Skype.) It will have preloaded video-streaming app for watching those shows that could have been missed during the week.
Known for its quality consumer products like TVs and audio systems, Sony has diversified its business and now focuses on the electronics such as smartphone, refrigerators, game and entertainment and financial services sectors .
