Sony expanded its line-up of audio products in the country. The company launched MDR- XB80BS and MDR-XB50BS wireless extra-bass in-ear headphones, priced at Rs 10,990 and Rs 5,490 respectively. While the MDR-XB80S comes only in Black colour, the MDR-XB50S is available in Red, Black and Blue colour variants.
The new in-ear headphones, as per Sony, are aimed at sports enthusiasts. They can connect to music players, smartphones and docks via Bluetooth or NFC. The wireless in-ear headphones also come with inbuilt microphone for hands free calling.
Sony MDR-XB80BS sports an ear hook design with a cable adjuster. It carries an IPX5 rating and is thus water resistant. The MDR-XB50BS, on the other hand, comes with arc supporters for a stable fit. It is IPX4 certified and is thus splash-proof.
The XB80BS and the XB50BS wireless in-ear headphones are claimed to last about 8.5 hours and 7 hours respectively on a single charge. Both feature 12mm dynamic driver units for better bass output. With a 4Hz – 24,000Hz frequency response, these can be charged via USB and have 3-button controls. While both the in-ear headphones support SBC and AAC audio formats, the XB80BS additionally supports LDAC and aptX formats too.
Last month, Sony launched four new audio-centric products. These include a Walkman media player and a pair of noise cancelling headphones.
The NWZ-A35 high-resolution audio Walkman media player costs Rs 15,900. The company’s noise cancelling headphones – MDR-1000X, come at a price tag of Rs 30,990. All these products were launched alongside the new Sony Xperia XZ smartphone.
