Sony To Start Manufacturing Bravia TVs In Tamil Nadu
In an endeavour to drive Bravia sales further, Sony will be making the TV sets locally. These sets are going to be made in Foxconn’s plant near Chennai. This was stated by Satish Padmanabhan, Sales Head at Sony India.
Apart from Sony, Samsung already has its manufacturing, research and development facility in Noida, Chennai and Bangalore. Samsung’s spokesperson stressed that they had invested in production, research and development at all these facilities along with expansion at the Noida facility. He said that all these efforts are pointers to their commitment to India and emphasise their belief that India is the future.
India is seeing a rise in manufacturing over the past couple of months. This was obvious from the second quarter’s GDP numbers. The GDP has grown to 7.4% and manufacturing at 9.3%. Also, the recommendation of the 7th Pay Commission is going to drive the demand for consumer products motivating companies to invest further.
