Sony will be launching its Xperia XZs smartphone in India today . The event is scheduled to take place in Delhi at 2PM. Although the Japanese tech firm is yet to reveal the price and availability of the smartphone, its specifications and features are already out. This is because the smartphone was launched last month in Barcelona, Spain during the MWC 2017 conference. Three more smartphones were announced at the event but are not launching today.
The Sony Xperia XZs is the company’s first major launch in India. It is also world’s first to record videos in 960 frames per second. For those unaware, the latest flagships from Apple and Samsung are still limited to 240 frames per second.
The smartphone comes with the same 19MP 1/2.3″ camera as the flagship XZ Premium, one of the handsets that were launched at MWC 2017. Consequently, everything from OIS and PDAF to 4K video recording is included in the handset. Another feature that is unique with the Xperia XZs is the brand new ‘Motion Eye’ technology, complete with 5-axis digital stabilization for jerk-free video recording. For selfies, there’s a 13MP front-shooter capable of recording 1080p video thrown into the mix.
The Sony Xperia XZs is IP68-certified for water and dust resistance and is made out of metal. Like in previous models, the fingerprint sensor here too is placed on the power button at the right side. The company has even included the support for Hi-Res audio and Digital Sound Enhancement System. There’s a 3.5mm headphone jack port too.
The dual-SIM supporting smartphone is powered by last year’s Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC coupled with 4GB of RAM. Internal storage stands at 32GB, with support for microSD cards of up to 256GB in size. The smartphone has a 5.2-inch Full HD TRILUMINOS IPS LCD display of 1080×1920 pixel resolution along with X-Reality display tech and Corning Gorilla Glass coating.
