Sony is expected to launch two new smartphones — Xperia Z5 Premium and Xperia Z5 in India on October 21. The company has sent invites to the media for an event scheduled for the same date.
The company had launched the two phones along with the Xperia Z5 Compact during IFA 2015, Berlin in September. As per sources, Sony may not launch the Xperia Z5 Compact in the Indian market. The company had indicated that Xperia Z5 Premium will be available starting November 2015 so it’s likely that the company will announce the availability date for the phone during the event.
Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Premium will be available in both single- and dual-sim variants. All the devices are water-resistant (IP 65/68). These are also the first Sony smartphones to feature a fingerprint sensor for security integrated with the power button which is located at the right edge of the phone.
Sony Xperia Z5 Premium is the company’s flagship offering and the first smartphone to come with a 4K resolution display. The Z5 Premium sports a 5.5-inch 4K Triluminos display (3840 x 2160p). It upscales content to 4K, enhancing any native or third party videos or photos so users can view Netflix, YouTube or their own videos in 4K.
The Sony Xperia Z5, on the other hand, comes with a 5.2-inch full-HD (1080x1920p) display.
Xperia Z5 series phones feature Sony’s new 1/2.3 Exmor RS for mobile 23MP sensor and F2.0 G Lens with a 5MP front camera.
The phones are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 octa-core processor and come with 3GB of RAM and 32GB in-built storage expandable up to 200GB via microSD card. The phones support Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 that enables users to get 5.5 hours usage with just 10 minutes of charging with a certified Quick Charge 2.0 charger.
The phones support 4G LTE, 3G, Bluetooth, NFC, Wi-Fi and GPS connectivity options.
Xperia Z5 Premium is backed by a 3,430mAh battery lasting for up to two days, as per the company and comes in chrome, black and gold colours. Xperia Z5 has a 2,900mAh battery and comes in White, Graphite Black, Gold and Green colours.
