STPI Launches – Chunauti under NGIS for Start-ups in 12 Tier-II Locations

SOFTWARE Technology Parks of India (STPI), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India has brought in Next Generation Incubation Scheme (NGIS) for Start-ups and simultaneously, launched CHUNAUTI – NextGen Startup Challenge Contest under this scheme. In this context, STPI-Jaipur organized a outreach webinar session on Tuesday, 25th August 2020 to reach-out the potential participants. The session was addressed by eminent personalities. Dr Omkar Rai, Director General, STPI, and other eminent speakers and mentors like Sh. Rajneesh Agrawal, Director, STPI-Noida, Sh. Subodh Sachan, Director-STPI-HQ, Dr Ajay Data, MD, Data group of Industries, Jaipur, Sh S K Surana, MD, Compucom Software Ltd. Jaipur and Sh Chintan Bakshi, CEO, Startup Oasis, Jaipur. The session was moderated by Shri Avadhesh Kumar, Additional Director & Officer In-Charge, STPI, Jaipur. The outreach webinar was well taken and more than 250 participants attended.

NGIS is a pioneering initiative by Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India & STPI to build a world-class incubation ecosystem for identifying & nurturing start-ups working towards path-breaking software products for addressing the futuristic problems in business and society, and transforming them to become tomorrow’s unicorns. Along with MeitY, STPI, MSH, STPINEXT INITIATIVES, a vast spectrum of industry, academia, investment and funding agencies joined hands to support the innovative product focussed start-ups in the most comprehensive manner.

NGIS is focused on 12 tier-II locations in the country viz. Agartala, Bhilai, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Dehradun, Guwahati, Jaipur, Lucknow, Prayagraj, Mohali, Patna and Vijayawada. It aims to support 300 start-ups/entrepreneurs/SMEs in the field of IT/ITeS/ESDM over a period of 3 years. Startups from pan-India can apply and become NGIS beneficiary.

Each NGIS location has a dedicated chief mentor along with a ‘mentor pool’ and knowledge partners. The services offered by NGIS to its beneficiaries include Physical infrastructure (including state-of-the-art incubation and dedicated Software Product Security Testing-SPST facility), Mentoring, Access to VCs for funding support, Advisory Services (such as HR, Legal, Accounting, IPR/Patenting) along-with financial incentives like seed funding of up to Rs 25 lakh. Registration is open for participation in open challenge programme – CHUNAUTI – and the last date for submission of applications is 7th September 2020. Dr Omkar Rai, Director General, STPI stated that As long as we work in unison, we can deliver on our goals in Rajasthan and I see that synergy in the state and he further added that Rajasthan has a long history in creating large industries in the country and building business ecosystem. Dr. Ajay Data, Chief Mentor of NGIS-Jaipur cited that STPI has been a great pillar for Start-ups all over India to support software product development. Sh. S.K. Surana, Mentor, NGIS-Jaipur also said that STPI has been a front runner in the IT growth of the country by providing the support the desired infrastructure.

STPI is coming up with additional 20,000 sq ft built-up space at Jaipur , wherein Incubation and other facilities for promotion & growth of IT/ITeS/Electronics industry in this region will be created, the facility may be ready by year end
