Whirlpool of India Ltd named Sunil D’Souza as its managing director effective 22 June. D’Souza joins Whirlpool from PepsiCo where he headed its VIMAPS Business Unit based out of Malaysia, said a company statement.
In his 15 years with PepsiCo, D’Souza held senior management positions in Malaysia, Philippines, Vietnam and India. “Sunil’s rich and diverse experience across general management, strategy, sales, marketing and innovation in consumer-driven industries, coupled with his proven track record in leading and growing large businesses, makes him highly suited to lead Whirlpool India,” said Arvind Uppal, president Asia Pacific, Whirlpool Corporation.
Uppal is also chairman and managing director, Whirlpool India. He will continue as executive chairman of the board of directors at Whirlpool India.
The New York Stock Exchange-listed appliance maker Whirlpool Corp. has 100,000 employees, 70 manufacturing and technology research centres across the world and reported $20 billion in annual sales in 2014.
