The report showed a 12.6 per cent year-over-year decline in tablet sales in the July-September quarter.
Around 48.7 million devices were shipped globally which is less as comapred to previous years.
The cause of the slump is frequent replacement of devices by the consumers globally.
Meanwhile, smartphone installed base continues to grow and the devices get bigger and more capable.
Apple led all vendors even though its market share slipped to 20.3 per cent and the number of iPads sold slumped 19.7 per cent.
According to IDC report South Korea’s Samsung held the number two spot with a 16.5 per cent market share, even as the number of units sold slid 17 per cent to eight million.
China’s Lenovo was in third place with a 6.3 per cent market share, followed by Taiwan’s Asus 4 per cent and China’s Huawei 3.7 per cent.
