Simplifying life for small and medium businesses aspiring to go digital
In a bid to assist the SME ecosystem in joining the m-commerce bandwagon, PayUmoney, launched an augmented version of its PayUmoney seller app, January this year. The comprehensive app facilitates merchants to smoothly get on board the mobile platform, with the additional feature of selling their products or services through the app itself. This also saves the merchants, the tedious onboarding process of using a desktop or a laptop computer through a website. The merchants simply need to follow instructions on the app, as it takes them through a seamless procedure of becoming an m-commerce enabled business.
Elucidating further on the app, Abhishek Tripathi, Head of Business, PayUmoney-SMB commented, “We had launched the first version of the seller app almost two years ago, which was for merchants, to utilize the trading tools of PayUmoney SME business. The success of the initial version inspired new and innovative features in the updated app. After launching the new version, we have on boarded 10, 000 merchants, of which 20% were directed through the app. However, until the launch, the average registration was 6500 and now it intends to add about 12000 merchants this month.”
“Our target was instigated by the fact that out of 51 million Indian SMEs, around 10 million are equipped with adequate technology to trade online. To tap the rest, we at PayUmoney introduced a missed call facility to assist merchants in tier -2 & 3 cities to sign-up on the platform by just giving a missed call,” added Mr. Tripathi
PayUmoney did not consider a merchant as registered until the merchant made at least one transaction from the app. The seller app is the first of its kind initiative to make the process of bringing sellers online simpler. This is now also a distinguishing feature of the brand in the market and gives it an edge over the rest of the players. This will enable them to sell their products from any corner of the country without incurring too much hassle.
