Welcome everyone to IT Voice! Today, we are reporting from the vibrant atmosphere of GITEX Global 2024 in Dubai, one of the biggest tech exhibitions worldwide. We have the privilege of speaking with Ms. Nupur Goenka, the Executive Director of Tally Solutions. It’s a pleasure to have you here, ma’am. Could you kindly tell our audience about the exciting products that Tally is showcasing here, and how the Middle East and Indian markets have been for Tally recently?
Thank you so much for having me! I must say, this is my first time at GITEX, and I’m honestly overwhelmed by the scale and energy here. It has been an amazing four days so far.
As for Tally Solutions, we are a product and technology company that has been around for nearly 40 years. Not many people know this, but the real magic of Tally lies in the fact that we have developed our entire stack from scratch. We’ve created our own database, memory manager, math routines, and even our own programming language. We’ve built everything from the ground up to deliver exceptional experiences for our customers, going as deep as we can to ensure performance and reliability.
Our primary market has always been India, and we currently serve around 2.5 million customers globally. Interestingly, our second-largest market is here in the UAE. The story of how we entered this market is fascinating. Over 20 years ago, many of our Indian customers moved their businesses to the UAE, and they reached out to us saying, “We love using Tally, and it’s a great fit for this market. You should come here!” So, that’s how we began our journey in this region, and it’s been an incredible experience ever since.
Here at GITEX, we are excited to showcase our latest product, Tally Prime Release 5.0. This is a significant release for us as it’s our multilingual version that includes Arabic. This feature allows users to operate in their preferred language, which is a game-changer for us, especially as we focus on expanding into markets like Saudi Arabia and across the wider MENA region. We’re thrilled about the potential this release holds.
Q-1 That sounds incredible! It’s evident that Tally Prime 5.0 will open new doors for Tally in the Middle East. Since you mentioned expansion plans, do you have a specific timeline for entering Saudi Arabia and other regions?
Actually, we’ve been present in Saudi Arabia for quite some time now, and we already have a strong network of partners there. They’ve been doing a great job selling Tally to local businesses. However, with Release 5.0, which includes Arabic language support, we are taking a more aggressive approach to expansion in the region. We’ve received fantastic feedback so far, and we’re eager to make Tally a household name across Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and other MENA markets. We’re looking at ramping up operations in the coming months.
Q-2 That’s exciting to hear! With so much talk about AI in the tech world today, can you share if Tally Prime 5.0 includes any AI-powered features? How does Tally Solutions see the role of AI in its products?
That’s a great question! At Tally, we’ve always prided ourselves on building a product that we believe is inherently smart. In fact, what a lot of companies are now exploring—such as noise-free search and NLP (Natural Language Processing)—are areas we tackled over 20 years ago. So, in many ways, we’ve been ahead of the curve in delivering a user-friendly, intuitive product for years.
That said, we do have a dedicated team that’s currently exploring how we can incorporate AI in a way that aligns with our customers’ needs. There are a couple of key principles that we’re focusing on. First is data privacy. From day one, Tally has taken data security very seriously. Even as the Executive Director of the company, I cannot access any customer data, and neither can any of our developers. When we look at integrating AI into our products, we are committed to maintaining that same level of trust and privacy.
The second principle is ensuring that our AI solutions remain both powerful and affordable. Our customer base is vast and diverse, and many of them are small businesses. So, we want to make sure that whatever AI features we introduce are accessible and relevant to them. We’re actively working on some exciting ideas and hope to bring those to market in the coming weeks and months.
Q-3That’s a thoughtful approach, especially in today’s data-sensitive world. We’re certainly looking forward to seeing those AI-powered features! Before we conclude, could you share with us your overall experience at GITEX Global? What has the response been like for Tally?
The experience has been absolutely fantastic! GITEX Global is such an important event, and it has allowed us to connect with a truly diverse audience. We’ve had inquiries and interest from businesses across the Middle East, including Oman, Qatar, and Bahrain. The response to our new Arabic release has been very encouraging, and we’re excited about the opportunities it will unlock.
Being here at GITEX also gives us a chance to meet with our partners, customers, and potential clients face-to-face, which is invaluable. There’s a real buzz around our booth, and it’s great to see so many people eager to learn more about Tally. It’s been a very rewarding few days for us.
Q-4 That’s amazing to hear! We wish you continued success with Tally Prime 5.0 and your expansion into new markets. Lastly, is there any message you would like to leave with our audience?
I’d just like to say a big thank you to all our customers and partners who have supported us on this journey. Tally has always been about making technology simple, intuitive, and accessible, and we will continue to work hard to ensure that we deliver the best possible experience. To those who are new to Tally, we invite you to explore our latest offerings, and we look forward to welcoming more customers from the Middle East and around the world. Thank you to IT Voice as well for this opportunity to share our story!
Thank you so much, Ms. Goenka, for your time and insights. It was a pleasure speaking with you, and we wish you and Tally Solutions the very best in your future endeavors.
