UK-based Tech 21 is looking to enter the Indian shores by partnering with the local distributors. Its product collection covers the most intelligent impact safety for mobile phone, tablet or iPad.
Tech 21 is a decade old brand, the company started its operation with laptop bags protection system as OEMs for laptop brands like Dell, Toshiba and others, but it gained visibility and popularity in UK and Europe markets with the launch of iPhone 3 protection cases.
In an exclusive interaction with Steven May, Head of Telco Operator Channel UK, Tech 21, who was in the city to meet distributor and looking for partnership with Indian handset makers like Micromax said, “In 2010 we made first large partnership with Team Mobile America, it took range of products from us to sell every device with the Tech 21 impact protection solution, that build the foundation of our business. We are at cross road at the moment, we are not actually mobile case manufactures, we are in polymers engineering business. We created series of polymers to absorbing energy, to protect the devices from dropping and breakage.”
The company has wide range of protection covers covering tablets and entire Mac range. It also has dust proof, which are capable of protecting smartphones drop from 4 meter. It also has solution for industrial and B2B applications and impact shield films, which can protect dropping from 6 feet.
Tech 21 is having partnership with almost all the major smartphone brands like Apple, Samsung, HTC, Microsoft Lumia, LG, Sony, Motorolo and few more. “During my visit, I would like to meet up with Micromax and other local smartphone players, also with three distributors. Everybody drops their mobile and it is our job to eliminate ‘No Mobile Phobia’ fear. We will find routes to reach, inform and educate to end customers at the large format retail stores,” he said.
The company intends to partner with distributors and then bring products into retail. “We know 50% of the customers buy protection cases while buying the new phones. We will make sure our products and solution communicate in a right way. We will engage with retail sales team so that they can help customers.”
The company will finalize its distribution with in next 6-8 weeks. “At this time we are talking with three distributors to make our decision. We have recently seen great success in Japan working with Softbank stores in Japan. Besides Retail, the other channels, the company will be taking would be B2B, Online, Insurance and call centers.”
May also added, “We will be playing in high end premium market in the protection cases. We are not premium other than protection.”
