Telenor India operating loss widens

Telenor India’s operating loss widened to 323 million Norwegian krone (Rs 247 crores) for the quarter ended September 2015 from 195 million krone a year earlier.
According to the company, the dip in revenue was mainly due to lower voice consumption and the impact from reduced mobile interconnect rate.

The Norwegian company currently operates in six telecom circles in the country which is UP (West), UP (East), Bihar, Jharkhand), Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Gujarat.

Meanwhile, the telecom operator has added one million customers in India during the past quarter which led to 19% jump in subscriptions compared to last year.

Ealier in September, the company rebranded its India operations as ‘Telenor India’ from ‘Uninor’, which cost 55 million krone.
