With a keen focus on becoming a digital services provider in India, Telenor India announced its plans to participate in the 24th Convergence India event to be held at PragatiMaidan from January 20th – 22nd, 2016. As we move towards a digitally connected world, Telenor group’s focus is to empower societies by enabling mobile connectivity for all. In line with this the company is looking at newer services and initiatives to address the changing requirements of the customers and creating value for them.
Speaking on the eve of the event, Sharad Mehrotra, CEO, Telenor India said, Convergence India is a great platform for industry leaders to convene and discuss innovative solutions to address changing needs of today’s customers’ as well as deliberate on issues facing the telecom industry. Telecom industry will play a key role in achieving the government’s Digital India vision and that will require collaborative support of all the stakeholders concerned.”
“The focus for Telenor India this year will be to empower masses by providing digital services to address their needs. We have already made significant investments in this direction and will continue to invest in the future also”, he added.
Last year, Telenor India had changed its brand name from Uninorand unveiled its new proposition of ‘fair’ and ‘easy’ to offer more value to its customers. It had also launched an industry first initiative of free life insurance to its customers, which has seen tremendous response. In a short span of three months, the company has already seen 16 million opt-ins.
Among Telenor’s business units, India contributes over 24% of its total customer base. Telenor had launched mobile services here in 2009, and is commercially available in six circles covering 50% of India’s population.
The three day Convergence India conference aims to bring together the best minds in the ICT, telecom media and entertainment ecosystem under one roof to create an interactive platform for the companies to showcase their technical prowess, and tap into new business opportunities. It is also an ideal platform to engage with international business gurus, telecom and broadcasting czars, leaders from IT & Internet, electronics, media, entertainment, communications, broadcast, cable & satellite, fiber, cloud, VAS, etc. verticals from India and beyond.
