Industry estimates show that currently less than 4% of India’s population has an insurance cover of any type. The primary reasons for the low penetration are issues like lack of awareness, cumbersome enrolment process, cost of insurance and lack of trust. Lack of distribution network has also restricted insurance products becoming popular and pervasive.
“Telenor’s insurance scheme has been designed to remove the barriers to insurance adoption. We have simplified the enrolment process and smoothened the process of settling claims in less than seven days. This ensures that the customer gets the due amount without going through any hassles,” said Srinath.
Recently, Telenor settled the first claim in the circle. A cheque of Rs.50000 was handed over to Mrs. Venkataiah, wife of Late. SamaVenkataiah whowas insured under Telenor Suraksha and lost battlewith kidney failure. After the claim was submitted, it was processed within 72 hours. “The money that I have received will be used in our daughter’s wedding,” shared Mrs. Venkataiah on receiving the cheque.
Telenor is working with Shriram Life Insurance and MicroEnsure for its insurance offer. At each customer touch point, trained staff is available to educate the customers and address their queries. In the unfortunate incident of death of a customer, the claim is processed by submitting relevant documents like the death certificate, nominee id proof and the SIM card.
