Windows Phone 8 users with entry-level or mid-range devices who were bitterly disappointed at the 1GB of RAM requirements of Temple Run, can now celebrate.
Imangi Studios, developer of Temple Run, has updated its Twitter page with the announcement that the popular game will now be available for Windows Phone 8 devices with 512MB of RAM. The game debuted on Windows Phone 8 earlier this year and was criticized for its hardware requirements of 1GB of RAM which limited the game to a handful of Windows Phone 8 devices, such as HTC Windows Phone 8X and Nokia Lumia 820, Lumia 920 and Lumia 925.
The game is still limited to Windows Phone 8 but Imangi Studios, has optimized it to run on phones with 512MB RAM. Now users with entry and mid-level Windows Phone 8 phones like Lumia 520, Lumia 620 and Lumia 720 will also be able to play the game. However users with phones with older versions on Windows will still have to wait.
Lumia 720 and Lumia 520 users are still facing problems downloading the app even after the new update and are getting an error message, “This app uses features your phone doesn’t have”. This could be because the new version may not be available globally yet.
Imamgi Studios had released Temple Run on Windows Phone 8 in May, years after releasing the game across other platforms. Temple Run 2, the successor to Temple Run, is considered to be the fastest growing mobile game, with over 50 million downloads across platforms in just 13 days.
