ITVoice News: A new range of media services has been started by Microsoft’s Azure. One of these services makes it possible to conduct text searches of audio and video content. Encoding and streaming services are provided by the new Azure Media Services and these facilities are backed by a content distribution network. This delivers video around the world without any embarrassment.
There is one more feature called “Advanced Content Indexing”. Microsoft explains that it is based on a research project which is called MAVIS or Microsoft Audio Video Indexing Service. MAVIS uses deep neural net-based speech recognition and it can turn audio files or audio tracks from vide into text files. These files are turned into metadata so that you can search a collection of media files using keywords.
Microsoft has designed the tool in a way so that you can search through video archives. It will also come handy for finding specific moments in media files. The tool is allied with a movie library and it’s expected that you’ll be able to search for a quote in a film. It can be transported to the moment in question. In the cloud service Microsoft had a busy day as it announced that its OneDrive cloud storage service can now handle 10GB files. At least the consumer version can do that.
Microsoft has promised that the features will be reality very soon for the business version of OneDrive too. There’s also a new right-click option with which you can share links to documents stored in the service. You are also able to drag an entire folder off the desktop into the OneDrive web page so that an upload can be initiated.
