Aditya Ambasth from SRM University and Snigdha Nagarajan from National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli to compete for the National Round of the Scholarship Awards from South
The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) announced the winners of the South Regional Round of the prestigious IET India National Scholarship Award, 2016 held in KCG College of Technology, Chennai, on July 30, 2016.
Aditya Ambasth from SRM University and Snigdha Nagarajan from National Institute of Technology won in the General and Women Categories respectively receiving a cash prize of Rs 40,000 and a certificate each. The winners will now compete at the National Finals which is going to be held in Bangalore. The participants presented their ideas on the topic “Sustainable & scalable innovations in energy conservation, water & personal hygiene in rural India” and were judged on their presentation skills, leadership potential, original ideas, and creativity of solution and depth of technical understanding.
Usama Tariq Rasheed from Dr. MGR University and Debarati Das from PESIT, Bangalore were the runners up in the General and Women categories and received Rs.20, 000 and a certificate each.
The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) witnessed incredible participation from the engineering community with over 7,068 registrations for its 4th edition of The IET India Scholarship Awards 2016. Highest number of applications is from Tamil Nadu this year, followed closely by Uttar Pradesh. Maharashtra, West Bengal and Karnataka follow.
The IET India Scholarship Award is organized in four levels, from eligibility to theoretical and practical engineering case resolutions. The focus of the award is to demonstrate economically, socially and technologically viable ideas to resolve challenges around our society.
The Award was first announced in 2013. The winners are evaluated across various parameters including academic performance, extracurricular activities, range of outreach activities and their ability to come up with engineering solutions to solve problems impacting society.
