The”MQ03ABB” delivers 750GB per platter, an industry first, and is optimized for personal external storage and spaceconstrained needs.
Toshiba Corporation’s (TOKYO: 6502) Semiconductor & Storage Products Company today announced the launch of a 3TB[1] 2.5-inch hard disk drive (HDD), the industry’s largest capacity[2]. Utilizing perpendicular magnetic recording (PMR) technology, the ”MQ03ABB300” is the industry’s first[2] 2.5- inch HDD to achieve 750GB per platter, using a total of 4 platters to achieve storage of 3TB. Suitable for external personal storage devices and spaceconstrained use cases requiring high storage capacity, the”MQ03ABB300” is small in size but large in storage capability. Sample shipments will begin in May.
The ”MQ03ABB300” offers the best in energy consumption efficiency in the 2.5- inch form factor, with lower power consumption and 50 percent larger capacity compared to Toshiba’s previous generation 4-platter 2TB ”MQ01ABB200.”The”MQ03ABB300” is suitable for single and multi-drive HDD home and SMB storage enclosures by providing ample space for data storage. The power efficient design also makes it a suitable solution for USB connected external personal storage applications. The state of the art Hard Drive will be distributed across 750 class ABC & D cities of India. This monumental task has been assigned to Rashi Peripheral’s owing to its stable statistics of fifty three Branch offices and Fifty Eight service centers catering over nine thousand partners.
“Rashi is excited to once again partner with Toshiba to deliver our customers with what is truly an innovative storage solution., As the market moves forward to two terabyte and the nift segment awaits a 3 terabyte storage, it’s the right time for Rashi and Toshiba to launch the new increment in the hard drive ecosystem,” added Mr. Rajesh Goenka, Vice President Sales and Marketing. Mr. Polad Garda, Country Manager, Toshiba’s operations in India was pleased to add “Toshiba being the innovator that it is continues to push the envelope.” “It’s the first hard drive that endorses a 3 terabyte in a miniscule 2.5 inches, a hard drive that’s as small as a fist but punches the storage capacity, by delivering a whopping 3 terabyte, an industry first.”
