Instant messaging player Viber has crossed 40 million user mark in India -its largest userbase globally.
Announcing this milestone, Anubhav Nayyar, country head, Viber India confirmed to PTI that Viber has shown consistent growth in its user base in India.
Viber commenced operations in the country in December 2013, during which the number stood at 13 million. Now, as it crosses 40 million registered users in India, it definitely signifies a huge leap within a short period of time.
In order to meet the exclusive requirements of Indian users, Viber has added many key new features and stickers was one of them. Viber has almost 7,000-8,000 stickers, which are used in daily conversations to express emotion or reaction.
The calling app has also added the feature of public chats in the recent past. This method allows users to discover, share and publicly join mobile conversations and communities. It includes verticals like fashion, beauty, sports, entertainment, travel and much more.
Currently, Viber has around 516 million users across 193 countries. While Whatsapp was recently in the news for crossing the user base of 800 million users, Viber is catching up fast!
