Vivo in November last year launched its V5 smartphone in India and said it will ‘soon’ launch its elder sibling, the V5 Plus in the country too. Now, the Chinese smartphone maker has started sending out invitations stating that it will launch the V5 Plus on January 23.
The invitation clearly mentions ‘V5 Plus’ on top followed by the two camera icons, indicating the inclusion of dual-front-facing cameras. It is worth adding that the V5 Plus will also be the company’s first to include dual front-facing cameras. But it’s not the first in the world as LG and Lenovo already launched their V10 and S1 with dual selfie cameras.
Although the specifications of the V5 Plus are not out yet, it might carry most of the innards found in the recently launched V5, except for the dual front-facing cameras.
For reference, the Vivo V5 was launched at Rs 17,980. The USP of the Vivo V5 is its 20MP front-facing camera, accompanied by a Moonlight Glow feature and Facebeauty 6.0. The camera app itself comes with various ‘beautification’ features such as eye enlargement, face slimming and skin blemish reduction, which help in clicking ‘better’ selfies. There is also a one tap beauty feature which automatically tweaks numerous facial features to enhance selfies. There’s a 13MP rear camera as well.
Vivo V5 runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box, skinned with the company’s Funtouch OS skin layer. Along with Funtouch 2.6 skin-based tweaks and enhancements, the smartphone has some pre-installed apps such as Facebook, WhatsApp and WPS Office.
In terms of specifications, the V5 features a 5.5-inch HD display of 720×1280 pixel resolution. It’s powered by a 1.5GHz octa-core processor paired with 4GB of RAM. There’s also 32GB of internal storage, further expandable via microSD cards of up to 128GB in size.
The smartphone houses 3,000mAh battery and supports 3G, 4G, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth as major connectivity options.
