An exclusive interview with IT.Voice,Mr. Murugesan Ram, Director – Sales & Marketing, Belden India & SAARC reveals his strategies for business in India .
Vikash Gupta:-How do you plan to have greater market penetration in the Indian enterprise segment? What will be your strategy to strengthen Belden’s presence in India?
Mr. Murugesan Ram:-Belden has offices in major cities like Bangalore, Mumbai, Gurgaon and Chennai along with a vast network of channel partners to better serve its customers and their markets. By placing a focus on specific market segments for growth and accelerating the shift to new business models, we are equipped to deliver tailored solutions, to enable new business opportunities.
There is a growing demand for high-speed network infrastructure. The rising use of HD content, voice & data services and remote access of applications will continue to drive the demand for structured cabling in the coming years. To address enterprises and SME sector across all key verticals, we have an extensive product-line and working towards building a strong network of partners, resellers and value added distributors.
Vikash Gupta:-To further consolidate Belden’s market position in India, what will be your offerings in terms of the products/ solutions?
Mr. Murugesan Ram:-As an industry leader with an extensive copper & fibre cable and connectivity portfolio, Belden is uniquely positioned to provide complete solution, right from planning to post-installation processes of infrastructure networks, helping to increase uptime and security, whilst reducing operating costs and capital expenditure.
Belden places emphasis on specific industry verticals and enables large enterprise, SMEs, IT / ITES, BFSI, hospitality, healthcare, government, education and manufacturing customers to accelerate their digital evolution. Belden will focus on delivering innovative technology that simplify IT infrastructure and enable new business environments.
Our products / solutions offerings for the Indian market:
Belden has got more than 100 year legacy in the Industry for offering signal transmission solutions. From the Enterprise & Broadcast AV Business unit, we offer end to end cabling and connectivity solutions. Our award winning REVConnect solution is well accepted by our customers and the demand is growing day by day. We do offer Racks & Cabinets along with PDUs as part of our solutions.
Vikash Gupta:-What are your priorities for the Indian market? What new opportunities do you see in this dynamically growing region?
Mr. Murugesan Ram:-Automation and orchestration are becoming high priorities for Indian CIOs and to address this, highly reliable networks are needed. Tremendous growth in mobility and increased adoption of unified communications, cloud computing and collaboration services offer huge opportunities. India is a promising IT infrastructure market and growth is expected to be triggered by investment in the areas of convergence, mobility, analytics and virtualization. Enterprise networking is a key segment and data center modernization initiatives is contributing largely to its growth, as Indian enterprises are focusing on building intelligent data centre’s while optimizing existing hardware assets.
We are improving our distribution network across the country. We have also strengthened our logistics and customer support activities with a large bonded warehouse in India. We have an experienced and bigger team to manage order fulfilments for a seamless execution of the orders aiming the best customer experience.
We are capable of handling from a small project to large campus LANs with local stocks/timely deliveries. Our warranty system provides a true 25 years assurance of quality to our customers.
Vikash Gupta:-What are the current partnerships Belden has in India?

Ingram Micro is our national distributor for enterprise business segment and we have regional distributors in all major cities in India & SAARC. We have trained and certified more than 100 well known & established system integrators spread across the country.
We also have a set of distributors who are specialized to cater to the BAV cables & connectors for Indian market.
We offer our partners, exceptional training & education, product demonstrations, technical & pre-sales support and lead creation. We are focussing significantly on developing our channel eco-system to enable increased market penetration across the country.
Vikash Gupta:-There is a lot of push by the Government of India in developing smart cities. What opportunities do you see in this emerging segment?
Mr. Murugesan Ram:- India is an important and emerging market in the APAC region and we see tremendous opportunity in building the communications infrastructure for smart cities. The Government of India vision to improve the ICT infrastructure of smart cities is aligned with our goals to provide advanced structured cabling solutions to India enterprises. Belden’s extensive solutions portfolio would support the needs for high performance and emerging application requirements of smart cities and deliver advanced communications infrastructure.
