WhatsApp is reportedly considering enabling users to generate stickers using artificial intelligence (AI) in the near future

WhatsApp is reportedly in the process of testing a novel AI capability that would permit users to craft personalized stickers using text-based commands, reminiscent of models like OpenAI’s DALL-E.

The tech industry is currently undergoing a significant transformation due to AI advancements. Major players like Microsoft and Google are actively developing various AI models and functionalities to enhance their platforms.

As per reports, the messaging app from Meta is experimenting with a new AI functionality that would empower users to design tailor-made stickers through text-based commands. This mechanism would be akin to the workings of current generative AI models such as OpenAI’s DALL-E or Midjoruney.

Although the feature is presently in a testing phase, it is anticipated that once it is universally launched, users will encounter a notification within their sticker panel, introducing them to the novel option. A dedicated button for generating these stickers will also be provided.

A shared screenshot illustrates the operational process of the forthcoming AI feature. In order to utilize this capability, users will need to tap the designated button to trigger AI-generated stickers. Subsequently, users will input a prompt, such as “a cat wearing a hat” or “a dog playing fetch.” WhatsApp will subsequently generate an assortment of stickers that closely match the input prompt. Users can choose a preferred result by tapping on it to transmit it to their ongoing conversation.

Moreover, the stickers produced through this novel AI-driven capability will come with distinct markers for easy identification by the recipient.
