WhatsApp is reportedly developing a new menu feature aimed at simplifying the process of switching between audio and video message modes for its users. The feature is currently in the beta testing phase and is available only to Android beta testers who have installed the updated version 2.23.22.5.
This new menu offers users the convenience of easily toggling between voice notes and instant video messages, according to reports from WABetaInfo. Notably, the toggle to manage instant video messages will be removed in the latest update, meaning that this feature will be enabled by default. Users can access the new menu to switch between the two modes, providing more control over the choice of message type.
The main benefit of this menu is that it helps prevent accidental mode changes that might occur with automatic switching. By offering a dedicated menu, users can confidently select the mode they wish to use, reducing the risk of unintended mode switches.
WhatsApp has also recently announced plans to discontinue support for certain Android and iPhone devices in the near future. Effective from October 24, 2023, WhatsApp will no longer function on specific older smartphone models. The company cited its commitment to staying up to date with the latest technological advancements and stated that users will be notified and encouraged to upgrade their devices when their operating systems are no longer supported.
In essence, this new menu feature represents WhatsApp’s ongoing efforts to enhance user experience and provide more control over how users interact with the platform.
