Whats App users on Windows Phone 8.1 or Windows 10 Mobile could soon get a new feature that will make it easier to inform their contacts in case the primary number is changed. Since Whats App accounts are tied to phone numbers, there is no easy way to let contacts know when a user changes his/her number. But Whats App could soon inform contacts of the number change on its own, saving users the hassle of doing so. The feature was spotted by WaBetaInfo (@wabetainfo), a Twitter account that tracks the changes introduced in WhatsApp’s beta builds. Users can choose to send their new phone number to all contacts, to only those who they chat frequently with, or not use the feature at all. The functionality is reportedly disabled by default. Since the feature is still in beta, it’s unclear if it’ll ever make it to all users. Last month, WhatsApp rolled out the text-based status feature to Windows Phone users. The feature is included with an app update, bearing version number 2.17.144.
