WhatsApp is vigorously working on a ‘Vacation Mode’ specification to bring users the capability to keep archived chat in the archive even when a new message appears. Presently, the company is unarchiving chats when a new message arrives, and Vacation Mode looks to avert that from happening. The up-to-date WhatsApp for Android beta sees developments to this Vacation Mode feature, and clues that the company is aggressively emerging it, counting User Interface tweaks to the Archived Chats section. The feature is yet under progress and has not been allowed for public beta testing till now.

The prompt messaging platform has rolled-out the newest WhatsApp Beta for Android v2.20.206.2, and WhatsApp-watchers WABetaInfo dug into its code to watch every latest feature which the company might be working on. The features tracker found the company which is busy creating the Vacation Mode feature. This latest addition, as mentioned before, lets its users keep chats in the archive when new messages come in. In the earlier beta updates, WhatsApp averted muted archived chats to be routinely unarchived when new messages came in, but this latest beta roll-out which has suggested that the users need not mute their chats to keep them in the archive.
There are further few tweaks observed and noted in the interface, for example, “Archived Chats” might be moved at the top of the user’s chat list once Vacation Mode is permitted for better discernibility. In this update, the company is further working to present the ‘Archived Chats feature with the latest banner that says, “Move chats you want to keep muted here’ adding, ‘Chats with new messages won’t return to main chat list. This has hinted about archived chats function’s behavior will change for all the chats that were archived. For now, the tracker has said that these latest changes have not been allowed for users even on the newest beta.
