WhatsApp Offers Android Users Back-Up In Google Drive
There is a good news for WhatsApp users as Google and WhatsApp have teamed up to offer back up and upload feature.
Thanks to the new integration with the Google Drive service, now users of the instant messenger WhatsApp will be able to backup their chat history whenever they want.
WhatsApp users can now also upload their chat history in case they lost it because of the one reason or the other. A story, a video or a photo, users will be able to upload whatever they have received on WhatsApp.
You will be able to create a private backup of your photos, chat history, voice messages and videos directly in Google Drive, said Google and added, once you make a backup on Drive, you will be able to restore everything that’s been uploaded and that too with just a few taps.
“Whether it’s recounting a story, watching a video, or enjoying photos with family and friends, our memories help us reconnect with what’s really important. And every month, nearly a billion people use WhatsApp to do just that,” says Google in a blog post.
However, the new backup feature might not be available to everyone using WhatsApp right now, but the search engine giant confirmed that in next few months all will be, as it has already started working on it on global level.
The standard service of the WhatsApp only provided users with local backup, thus its merits was rather limited. This is the first time that messaging app benefits from a backup service. It allows users to upload their chat history into the cloud.
