WhatsApp has introduced a refreshed design in its latest Android update, signaling Meta’s ongoing efforts to unify the visual identity of its app ecosystem. The update, available in version 2.25.1.75 for users in India and 2.25.1.76 in other regions, revamps the attachment sheet with a modern touch.
The most noticeable change is the replacement of the older circular icons with sleek, “squircle” shapes—a blend of square and circle. These new icons, paired with colorful and polished art, cover all attachment options, including Documents, Gallery, and Location. While the functionality remains unchanged, the design now aligns with the visual language of Meta’s other platforms like Instagram and Messenger.
This subtle redesign is part of WhatsApp’s broader strategy to create consistency and enhance integration across its suite of apps. First spotted in beta versions nearly two years ago, the update has undergone significant testing and refinement based on user feedback. It follows earlier improvements, such as redesigned gallery menus, reinforcing Meta’s focus on improving the overall user experience.
The updated attachment icons are rolling out globally in stages, and users are encouraged to either wait for the update through the Google Play Store or access it earlier via trusted APK sources. Additionally, those keen on testing upcoming features can join WhatsApp’s beta program for early access to experimental updates.
With this redesign, WhatsApp continues its efforts to stay competitive in the increasingly dynamic messaging landscape, providing a visually cohesive and user-friendly interface that reflects Meta’s long-term vision.
