WhatsApp is testing a new Meta AI widget that will allow users to interact with AI-powered features directly from their home screen without opening the app. The feature, first reported by WABetaInfo, is currently being tested with select beta users.
The AI widget enables users to ask questions, upload images, and access the AI chatbot’s voice mode instantly. Designed for convenience, the widget is adjustable and resizable, allowing users to customize its placement and size. It is powered by Meta’s Llama AI model, which can generate responses, create images, and assist in both individual and group conversations.
Millions of users already interact with Meta AI within WhatsApp, and this widget aims to streamline those interactions further. However, the feature is being rolled out gradually, meaning not all users will have immediate access.
In addition to this AI enhancement, WhatsApp has recently introduced several new features to improve user experience. These include 22 preset chat themes, tap reactions, selfie stickers, and shareable sticker packs, making conversations more interactive and engaging.
With the continuous evolution of AI-driven tools in WhatsApp, the platform is further integrating AI assistance into everyday communication, offering users more intuitive and seamless interactions.
