X, a company owned by Elon Musk, is introducing an AI-driven capability on its feed

Elon Musk, the owner of X, formerly known as Twitter, has unveiled a new AI-driven feature integrated into the platform. Musk made the announcement about the “See similar” posts feature, marking the addition as part of a series of ongoing and forthcoming advancements aimed at transforming X into a comprehensive app.

During an internal X meeting on October 26, Musk discussed various developments the company is actively working on, including a significant improvement in the search functionality. He emphasized the goal to implement a semantic search, allowing the platform to understand user queries and present relevant text, images, and videos that match their intent.

The “see similar posts” feature stands as an initial step towards an AI-driven system for X. Musk highlighted the need for a shift to an entirely AI-based system, including the recommendation algorithm for users’ feed. This entails organizing a vector space around the user and aligning it with a similar vector space for individual posts, tailoring the feed to what is likely to be most engaging to each user.

This move follows the recent announcement by X regarding the launch of video and audio calling on the platform. The availability of audio and video calls is presently open to premium subscribers on iOS, with plans for extending the feature to Android users. All X accounts can receive calls regardless of subscription status.

These updates are part of X’s ongoing efforts to enhance user experience and offer more communication options within the platform.
