Xiaomi Mi 6 announced, the company’s first 6GB RAM smartphone
Xiaomi has launched its brand new flagship smartphone – Mi 6 – at an event in its home country of China. It’s the successor to the Mi 5, which the company launched last year. Powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 835 flagship SoC, Xioami Mi 6 has 6GB of RAM. The smartphone sports a 5.15-inch Full HD display, which the company claims satisfies China’s colour standards and prevents discomfort caused due to colour shifts. The Mi 6 has a four-sided 3D-glass design, and has a Home button with integrated fingerprint sensor at the front. It’s also splash-resistant. Notably, the Mi 6 is the first Xiaomi smartphone that doesn’t include a 3.5mm audio jack. However, the smartphone does come with stereo speakers for an enhanced audio listening experience. This is also the first smartphone from the Chinese smartphone maker to come without a 3.5mm audio jack. There are two variants available based on internal storage – 64GB and 128GB. Running Android 7.0 Nougat operating system topped with MIUI skin, the Xiaomi Mi 6 has numerous software optimizations such as the ability to block apps from starting and freeze background-running apps. There’s also a 3,350mAh battery included in the mix, complete with Quick Charge 4.0 support. For imaging duties, the Mi 6 has a dual rear camera setup with 12MP lenses (one wide-angle and one telephoto), OIS and 4K video recording capability. There is also an 8MP selfie camera included. Xiaomi Mi 6 will come in three colour variants — White, Black and Blue – as well as a special ceramic edition. The 64GB variant is priced at CNY 2,499, while the 128GB version costs CNY 2,899. The ceramic edition (128GB storage) has a price tag of CNY 2,999.
