One more launch from Xiaomi, the Apple of China, has been announced reportedly. The latest device is Redmi 2, which is the follower of Redmi 1S. This latest Xiaomi smartphone has been priced at Rs 7,100 and will be up for sale from 9 January.
On the specification front, the Xiaomi Redmi 2 features 11.94-cm (4.7-inch) HD IPS display with 1280×720 resolution, 64-bit 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor, 1GB RAM, Adreno 306 GPU, 8GB internal storage, microSD cardslot to expand storage up to 32GB, dual SIM support, 8MP rear camera, 2MP front-camera and 2200mAh battery. The smartphone runs on Xiaomi’s own MIUI 6 powered by Android 4.4 KitKat.
Its connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and 4G LTE support. The smartphone has been launched in five colour variants – yellow, pink, green, white and black. The smartphone has been launched in China for the time being and there is no word when it will hit the global markets. This successor to Redmi 1S has been long-awaited and was finally launched on Sunday.
The smartphone is expected to hit Indian and Indonesian markets shortly. The 2MP front camera is a slight bump from the 1.6MP one which was seen in the Redmi 1S. In its battery too, there is a slight improvement as Redmi 1S was packed with a 2000mAh battery.
