Following rumors, Xiaomi has officially announced that the Xiaomi 13 Ultra flagship smartphone with Leica optics will be released in China in April. The company also stated that the phone will be made available worldwide in the upcoming months.
The Xiaomi 13 Ultra will utilise the most modern Leica Summicron lens for mobile imaging, following the Xiaomi 12S series and Xiaomi 13 Pro that both use Leica optics.
Leica claimed that various smartphone lenses, from wide-angle to telephoto, have now consistently attained exceptional optical capabilities.
The Xiaomi 13 Ultra, according to earlier rumors, will have a 6.7-inch Samsung LTPO E6 AMOLED QHD+ 120Hz display, a Snapdragon 8 Gen2 SoC, up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and up to 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage.
The upcoming phone is rumored to have a highly impressive camera setup. The main sensor is said to be a 1″ 50MP Sony IMX989, with an additional 50MP ultra-wide-angle lens and two 50MP telephoto lenses. The front camera is expected to be 32MP. A render leaked a few months ago showed a large camera bump at the top of the back of the phone, with the flash moved to the top left.
However, this may not be the final design. It’s also expected to be IP68-rated for water and dust resistance. The phone is said to come with a 4900mAh battery, which supports 90W fast charging, 50W wireless charging, and reverse wireless charging.
