In a day and age where large companies are going at each other’s throats, it’s nice to see two giants come together to play nice, just as Yahoo and Twitter did.
Yahoo has been undergoing some nice changes lately under the leadership of Marissa Mayer. From revamping Flickr to introducing a new weather app for iOS, the company has been doing a good job with breathing new life into existing services, and today, they have announced a new partnership that should extend the endeavour. Yahoo and Twitter have announced a partnership which enables users to see tweets in their Yahoo! newsfeed.
What Yahoo and Twitter want to deliver isn’t just a barrage of Tweets in your feed, for that’s what Twitter is for. Instead, you will only be seeing selective tweets based on your topics of interest. Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer announced the new partnership today in a post on the Yahoo blog. “Tweets have become an important information source for many of our users, so we are thrilled to announce our partnership with Twitter to bring Tweets directly into the Yahoo! newsfeed,” says Mayer.
The Tweets making their way into your Yahoo Newsfeed will come various sources such as sports, movies, music, business and any other topic of news you could possibly think of.
The Yahoo! newsfeed Tweet-integration will start rolling out to the US users first, showing up in both their desktop and mobile versions of Yahoo. The rest of the world is going to have to just wait for a little while.
