As per Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, India is going to opt for technology that is affordable as well as sustainable. The technology will have zero effect as well as zero defect. He was speaking at the National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER) citing, “We should bring such a technology which will have no side effect on the environment, climate, global warming and also on the society.” He also said that the products made using this technology will have zero defect having acceptance not only in India but on a global level too. He gave the example of LEDs. He stressed that LEDs can help India in saving and conserving a lot of energy. Apart from this, he said that the Indian government has signed MoUs with 100 cities in India. LED bulbs will be used in these cities for street lights as well as for household purposes. This will help India in conserving and saving almost 20,000 MW of power and solve the energy issue. The PM also emphasised that he feels that solar energy is the new source of energy and the largest challenge for India is to how to reserve solar energy to enable it to serve mankind. The function held at NISER was also attended by Odisha Govenor S C Jamir, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Union Minister Juel Orama and Dharmendra Pradhan.
