Thursday, November 28, 2013: When MediaTek said that their new octa core processor would soon be coming out in a number of devices, we didn’t quite expect it to be so soon. Intex, Gionee and Smart Namo had earlier announced devices that would be powered by the world’s first true octa core mobile processor. Now, Zopo Mobile has reportedly unveiled its first octa core Android-based smartphone, under the monicker Zopo ZP998. The device will reportedly be sold in India from next month under a price tag of around Rs 19,000.
Apart from the MTK6592 processor, the device has a 13.9-cm (5.5-inch) IPS display, which offers 1080 pixel resolution. In addition, the display also has Gorilla Glass protection. It runs the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean processor and has 2 GB of RAM. In addition, it has both 16 GB and 32 GB variants with external memory card support, which can take it up to 64 GB. The device comes with the Mali 450 GPU and is expected to have 4G support in India.
Further, the Zoppo ZP998 has Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and WiFi options for connectivity. It has a 14 mega pixel rear camera and a 5 mega pixel front camera.
