ZOTAC has come up with new PC versions in different sizes which will have OS for the first time, Windows 8.1 and Bing will be its default search engine.
ZBOXes are the most popular types of small form factor PCs which come from the ZOTAC store. Among them one of the most interesting one is ZOTAC ZBOX Sphere OI520. There is one familiar point in all the ZBOXes that there is no OS on its board. Now ZOTAC is planning to come out with changes in its latest versions which will be loaded with Windows 8.1 with Bing out of the box.
The titles of these four ZBOX SKUs are ZBOX BI320, ZBOX ID18, ZBOX CI320 nano and ZBOX CA320 nano. While the first two come in the regular ZBOX size, the nano models have a smaller size and they are also differently designed in comparison to the older ZBOX nanos. The first two are not very different in designs from their earlier versions but the only difference is that the BI320 and ID18 will not sport onboard Wi-fi. The ZBOX nano models have a smaller form factor but a slightly different design as compared to the older ZBOX nanos.
Windows 8.1 is pre-loaded in these ZBOXes and this is possible because of Microsoft’s recent release to OEMs which will help sell low cost solutions. The default search engine will be Bing and and the same cannot be altered through OEMs. There are two SKUs in the ZOTAC ZBOXes – the Plus, which comes with RAM and HDD, and non-Plus which has no RAM and HDD. As Windows 8.1 OS will be facilitated all the ZBOXes will be of Plus version. They will be sporting 2GB of DDR3 RAM and 64GB SSD storage.
The nano models have better features that the bigger versions. Launching dates for India have not been announced yet though. There is also a passive cooling solution available in the ZBOXes, hence no fan noise could be heard in the same.
