Alibaba , the Chinese multinational technology company specializing in e-commerce, retail, Internet, and technology has made a claim that the company isn’t going to layoff its employees, rather amid the season of mass layoffs throughout every sector in the world, the giant e-commerce company is about to hire 15,000 employees this financial year.
Alibaba stated in March that the company is going to split its operations in a six-dimensional way now, as it made these changes adapting to the slow growth rate which it was receiving under strict regulatory scrutiny of Chinese Technology Industry. The reports made to South China Morning Post by Alibaba also supports the argument where it says that out of these 15K new hirings, 3,000 will be newly graduated freshers.
According to Weibo , also known as Sina Weibo a microblogging website, Chinese social media network company through which Alibaba stated the company stated, “Each day we see new comers joining and old colleagues leaving. The movement of talent is what all companies see. At Alibaba, talent is moving in and out normally. In the face of new situations, new opportunities and new developments, we have never stopped innovating and upgrading ourselves, nor have we stopped recruiting and cultivating outstanding talent.”
Earlier due to its splitting of business operations statement , the cloud of rumors arose that the company would lay off 7% of its staff amidst tough economic environment , thus preparing for an IPO. The six units will include the Cloud Intelligence Group, Taobao Tmall Commerce Group, Local Services Group, Cainiao Smart Logistics Group, Global Digital Commerce Group and Digital Media and Entertainment Group. All businesses are expected to have their own CEO’s and board of directors. It is a noticeable fact that where all over the world big companies like Amazon, Google and other bigger giants are globally laying off employees, Alibaba has hired 235,000 employees as of March.
