Puneet Chandok, who is the current president of AWS (Amazon Web Services) India and South Asia has made a shocker to the industry when he declared his resignation just this week. He oversees and manages the incubation, planning, and demand for AWS Services from customers across industry segments and verticals in India and South Asia. An IIM Calcutta graduate in Finance and Systems, Puneet holds a Master in Business and Marketing too.
His job profile held the responsibility for building and leading customer-centric teams that help organizations innovate and transform using AWS services. However the Indian and South-Asian head had decided to part ways with the firm, which is to come in effect straightaway from this 31st of August. Vaishali Kasture, who handles the mid-market and global segment will replace her superior for the interim period, handling the commercial unit.
Puneet joined the cloud computing unit of Amazon way back in the year 2019, before this venture he worked as a full-time partner with McKinsey and Co. for almost 11 years before making the grand switch. Amazon Web Services (AWS) is the world’s most comprehensive and broadly adopted cloud, offering over 200 fully featured services from data centers globally.
According to Reuters, Puneet Chandok’s departure was announced more than two weeks after Amazon’s cloud computing division disclosed its intentions to invest 1.06 trillion rupees ($12.87 billion) in India by 2030. This renewed investment commitment reflects Amazon’s determination to meet the increasing demand for cloud services in India, which is the third-largest economy in Asia.
