“Android Auto Update Introduces a New Button to Terminate Wireless Connections”

Google is reportedly launching a new version of Android Auto, bringing an additional feature to the in-car platform. In January, Google unveiled an updated user interface (UI) with widgets and a split-screen layout. Now, the latest Android Auto update, known as version 10.6, introduces a new ‘Disconnect’ button to provide users with greater control over their wireless connections.

According to a report by 9to5Google, this Android Auto update is currently available for download from the Google Play Store. The new ‘Disconnect’ button allows users to quickly terminate their connections with wireless devices in their vicinity.

Initially, this feature was rolled out for limited testing and was not available to all users. However, it is now becoming more widely accessible to those who are using the latest beta version of Android Auto. While this update primarily focuses on the new ‘Disconnect’ button, it also includes various bug fixes and stability enhancements.

The ‘Disconnect’ button serves as a convenient way for Android Auto users to end their connection with a wireless Android Auto device, which could be an adapter or a car equipped with wireless support. This button is especially helpful for ending a wireless Android Auto session, as previously users had to resort to options like activating airplane mode or physically disconnecting an adapter. Additionally, it facilitates smoother transitions between different users when multiple people are in the same vehicle with wireless Android Auto capabilities.

Google continues to work on developing new features for Android Automotive OS, an operating system that comes pre-installed in select vehicles from manufacturers such as Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC, Honda, Polestar, Renault, and Volvo.
